NATUS Electric Wins Major Saudi Arabian Energy Power Plant Project with ENERGON Low-Voltage Switchgear
NATUS Electric China has recently secured a major contract for an energy power plant project in Saudi Arabia, supplying ENERGON series withdrawable low-voltage switchgear and Motor Control Center (MCC) assemblies. The project requires full compliance with applicable IEC international standards and stringent power plant specifications. Through its advanced product technology, consistent quality, and efficient international project delivery capabilities, NATUS Electric successfully passed the technical evaluation and earned the trust of another high-end international customer.
Located in a tropical desert environment, the project presents demanding operating conditions. In non-air-conditioned areas, ambient temperatures can reach 50°C. The atmosphere also contains corrosive contaminants typical of the oil and gas industry, and the pollution degree is classified as IEC Pollution Degree 3. The equipment must have a minimum design service life of 25 years, withstand short-circuit currents of at least 50 kA for 1 second, meet the internal arc protection requirements of IEC 61641, and integrate with the plant's Distributed Control and Monitoring System (DCMS).
Comprehensive Technical Adaptation for Demanding Operating Conditions
To meet these stringent requirements, NATUS Electric's ENERGON series incorporates a range of technical features designed to support safe, reliable, and long-term operation in demanding power plant environments.
High-temperature and corrosion resistance: Core components are validated for operation at ambient temperatures of up to 50°C. The enclosure achieves an IP41 protection rating, while the steel structure receives anti-corrosion treatment to support reliable operation in hot, sandy, and corrosive environments.
Enhanced electrical safety: High-grade electrolytic copper busbars with air insulation, a short-circuit withstand rating of 50 kA for 1 second, and compartmentalized construction with directed pressure-relief provisions help enhance operational safety and personnel protection. The design meets the applicable requirements of IEC 61641 for internal arc protection.
Withdrawable modular design: Mechanical and electrical interlocking is provided across the service, test, and disconnected positions. The dual-busbar arrangement supports operational flexibility, while automatic transfer switching (ATS) in critical circuits enables switching between control-circuit DC power supplies. These features facilitate maintenance and component replacement while helping maintain power continuity for critical loads.
Intelligent control and monitoring compatibility: Multifunctional digital protection devices provide comprehensive circuit protection. Support for IEC 61850 communication enables integration with compatible substation automation systems, while seamless interfacing with the plant's DCMS supports both local and remote operation for more efficient monitoring and maintenance.
Dedicated Project Execution and Quality Assurance
NATUS Electric has established a dedicated international project team to oversee the entire process, from engineering design and manufacturing to inspection and documentation delivery. The team strictly follows applicable IEC standards and implements comprehensive quality control throughout every project stage.
The complete Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) program was carried out to verify equipment performance and compliance with project requirements. Comprehensive technical documentation was also prepared to support project acceptance, installation, and commissioning. By maintaining rigorous quality standards and coordinated project management, NATUS Electric is committed to ensuring on-time delivery.
Strengthening NATUS Electric's Presence in the Middle East Energy Market
This contract marks another milestone in NATUS Electric's continued expansion in the Middle East energy market. It also reflects the international engineering sector's confidence in the performance, reliability, and service capabilities of the ENERGON series.
Looking ahead, NATUS Electric will continue to focus on demanding energy applications, advance its product technologies, and deliver safe, reliable, and integrated low-voltage power distribution solutions to customers worldwide.
