Key Benefits

icon01.png
IP67 Fully Sealed Gas Compartment
304 stainless-steel laser-welded gas tank with helium leak detection, annual leakage rate ≤0.01%, and no gas refilling for 30 years.
icon02.png
Ultra-compact Design
Saves more than 90% floor space compared with traditional AIS, suitable for substations, underground rooms and space-constrained distribution projects.
icon03.png
Gas-free On-site Extension
Top and side extension are supported. Gas filling and leak testing are completed in the factory, so on-site extension requires no gas handling.
icon04.png
Multiple Safety Interlocks
Mechanical and electrical interlocks help prevent misoperation and control cable compartment access according to safe operating status.

Product Overview

NXTs-40.5 is a new-generation 40.5 kV sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas-insulated compact metal-enclosed switchgear developed by NATUS Electric, using a three-phase common-tank structure and modular design.
The 40.5 kV C-GIS Gas Insulated Switchgear consists of four independent compartments: circuit breaker gas tank compartment (including busbar and three-position disconnector), mechanism compartment, cable compartment and instrument compartment. The circuit breaker and disconnector can be configured as independent sealed gas compartments. All high-voltage primary components are fully sealed inside the stainless-steel gas tank and are protected from dust, moisture, small animals and other external environmental factors. It supports both top extension and side extension, with no gas handling required during on-site installation. The product has passed full series type tests and is widely used in 40.5 kV distribution scenarios such as utility distribution, renewable energy, industry and transportation.

Technical Advantages

01.
ram-line.png
Three-phase Common-tank Fully Sealed Technology
All high-voltage live parts are integrated inside an IP67 stainless-steel gas tank and isolated from external environmental influence. The annual leakage rate is ≤0.01%, supporting long-term stable operation with reduced maintenance needs.
02.

Magnetic Fluid Sealing Transmission
The three-position switch operating mechanism adopts magnetic fluid sealing between the mechanism and gas compartment, improving sealing reliability compared with traditional bellows sealing.

Modular Gas-free On-site Extension
Standardized unit design supports top and side extension. Field assembly uses plug-in busbar connectors, without on-site gas filling or gas treatment.

Product FAQ

Yes. The gas tank uses 304 stainless-steel laser welding and is certified by helium mass spectrometry leak detection. Its protection class reaches IP67, fully preventing dust and water ingress.
The annual leakage rate is ≤0.01%. Under normal operation, no gas refilling is required within 30 years, truly achieving maintenance-free operation.
Top extension and side extension are supported. All gas tanks are filled and leak-tested at the factory. On-site extension only requires plug-in busbar connectors and requires no gas handling operation.
Magnetic fluid sealing uses magnetic fluid to form a sealing liquid ring under a magnetic field. Compared with traditional bellows sealing, it provides zero leakage, high reliability, long service life and good pressure resistance.
The standard high-voltage gas-insulated switchgear supports altitudes ≤2000 m. For altitudes above 2000 m, customized solutions can be provided by adjusting insulation design and gas pressure.
The NXTs-40.5 C-GIS gas-insulated switchgear has passed the 31.5 kA/1s internal arc test and has a built-in directional pressure relief channel. In case of fault, arc energy is safely released outside the cabinet and the door will not burst open, fully protecting personnel safety.
Embedded pole and assembled insulating cylinder options are supported. Embedded poles provide better insulation performance and suit high-altitude and heavily polluted environments; assembled insulating cylinders offer better economy and suit general environments.
