Product Overview

The NATUS Electric explosion-proof enclosure series includes two major categories: increased-safety type (Ex e) and flameproof type (Ex d). It is an industrial power distribution and control equipment series designed for hazardous areas with explosive atmospheres.

The series explosion-proof junction box is available in cast aluminum, glass-fiber-reinforced polyester, stainless steel and carbon steel. It has passed authoritative domestic and international explosion-proof certifications such as IECEx, ATEX and CCC, and can be safely used in explosive gas environments Zone 0, Zone 1 and Zone 2, as well as explosive dust environments Zone 21 and Zone 22. Ex e enclosures are suitable for junction and branching circuits, while Ex d enclosures are suitable for active components such as circuit breakers, Programmable Logic Controllers (Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)s) and instruments. With complete specifications ranging from 64 × 58 × 36 mm to 1200 × 1200 × 400 mm, the series explosion-proof junction box supports customized openings and internal configurations and is widely used in petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, energy and mining industries.

Flameproof enclosures use a wall thickness of ≥20 mm and pass a 2.4 MPa hydrostatic test. Precision flameproof joints effectively prevent internal explosion flames from propagating to the external environment.

What is the difference between Ex e and Ex d explosion-proof enclosures?

Ex e enclosures prevent dangerous sparks, arcs or high temperatures through additional safety measures and are suitable for junction and branching circuits. Ex d enclosures isolate an internal explosion from the external environment through a high-strength housing and are suitable for active components such as circuit breakers and PLCs.

How should different enclosure materials be selected?

For general environments, choose cast aluminum. For highly corrosive environments, choose 316 stainless steel. For high insulation requirements, choose polyester. For cost-sensitive applications, choose carbon steel. The final selection should consider corrosion, temperature, humidity and other operating conditions.
